Seed Call for Collaboration

Moments of Belonging

Moments of Belonging is an initiative by Konstnärscentrum Syd aimed at professional artists new to Sweden who want to establish themselves more firmly in the Swedish art scene. The intention is to support artists to flourish in the present cultural eco system, initiate new artistic collaborations or connect with new colleagues and get access to resources. The initiative is open to all professional artists, including visual, word practitioners, journalists, sound, performance and cross-disciplinary practices.

This seed call for Collaboration seeks artists interested in deepening their practice through collaboration with other artists or creators from other fields, like music, sound, text/word, researchers, etc. Participants will work in pairs to develop new works based on a specific site, method or context. The project emphasizes shared learning, self-organized initiatives, and understanding the possibilities and limitations of a contextual framework.

The final artistic outcome could be a site-specific investigation or proposal, such as collaboration for a music piece, a workshop, or questions for exploring future ideas. The project includes pocket money, one feedback session, and two site visits if needed, though it cannot guarantee future assignments.

Eligibility

The call is open to professional artists with an art education or documented professional practice. Artists with diverse backgrounds and expressions are encouraged to apply, especially those open to new forms of collaboration. The project needs to explore new exchange models, pairing recently arrived artists with established ones in equal partnerships. We encourage artists in life transition to apply.

Application

Submit a short description of your work/artistic practice (max 150 word) with documentation of 2-3 works that represent your practice, CV from both members (max 2 pages) and a short motivation letter (max 300 words) that should include:

• Write a brief letter explaining how this project will influence your artistic practice and why the opportunity to develop this collaboration is important to you. One of the collaborators can write it, or you can write it together.

• You can also describe if you have an ongoing partnership or planned collaboration with a colleague or if it's new, so the juri gets a bit of the context of this collaboration.

Selection

A maximum of 2 collaborations will be selected. The selection committee includes a representative from Konstnärscentrum Syd board, the Moments Of Belonging working group. The call can be revoked if the applications do not meet the criteria.

Selection Process

Decisions will be made based on the following criteria:

The quality and originality of the collaboration particularly in relation to the chosen site, context, theme or locality.

• The impact that developing this collaboration will have on the artist's evolution and practice.

• The artist’s experience in similar projects or a compelling connection between the proposal and their broader body of work.

Timeline

Announcement of the call: 10th of August

Application deadline: 8th of September kl.14

Results: 1st-10th October

Project collaboration: Between 15th October-15th December

Optional Public presentation: February 2027

Payment

The payment will be done at the end of October.

One payment to each collaborator, 10 000 kr will be paid to each member.

Moments of Belonging är ett initiativ av Konstnärscentrum Syd som riktar sig till professionella konstnärer som är nya i Sverige och söker att etablera sig inom det svenska konstfältet. Syftet är att stötta konstnärer att frodas i det nuvarande kulturella ekosystemet, knyta kontakter med kollegor och uppdragsgivare, initiera nya konstnärliga samarbeten och få tillgång till resurser. Initiativet är öppet för alla professionella konstnärer.

Denna utlysning Seed Call for Collaboration riktar sig till konstnärer som vill fördjupa sin praktik genom samarbete med andra konstnärer eller yrkesutövare inom andra områden, såsom musik, ljud, text/ord, forskning med mera. Deltagarna kommer att arbeta i par för att utveckla nya verk utifrån en specifik plats, metod eller kontext.

Projektet betonar gemensamt lärande, självorganiserade initiativ samt en förståelse för de möjligheter och begränsningar som en given kontext innebär.

Det slutliga konstnärliga resultatet kan exempelvis vara en platsspecifik undersökning eller ett förslag, såsom ett samarbete kring ett musikstycke, en workshop eller ett antal frågor som utforskar framtida idéer. Projektet erbjuder ett mindre ekonomiskt stöd, ett feedbacktillfälle samt två platsbesök vid behov, men kan inte garantera framtida uppdrag.

Behörighet

Utlysningen är öppen för professionella konstnärer med konstnärlig utbildning eller dokumenterad professionell praktik.

Konstnärer med olika bakgrunder och konstnärliga uttryck uppmuntras att söka, särskilt de som är öppna för nya samarbetsformer.

Projektet vill utforska nya modeller för kunskapsutbyte genom att para ihop nyanlända konstnärer med etablerade konstnärer i jämbördiga samarbeten.

Konstnärer som befinner sig i olika livsomställningar uppmuntras särskilt att ansöka.

Ansökan

Skicka in följande:

• En kort beskrivning av din konstnärliga praktik (max 150 ord).

• CV för båda samarbetspartnerna (max 2 sidor per person).

• Dokumentation av tre verk som representerar er praktik.

• Ett motivationsbrev (max 300 ord) som innehåller:

  • Hur projektet kommer att påverka din konstnärliga praktik.

  • Varför möjligheten att utveckla detta samarbete är viktig för dig.

  • Om samarbetet redan pågår eller är planerat sedan tidigare, eller om det är ett helt nytt samarbete, så att juryn får en förståelse för sammanhanget.

  • Motivationsbrevet kan skrivas av en av de sökande eller gemensamt.

En person i samarbetet ansöker för hela paret.

Urval

- Högst två samarbeten kommer att väljas ut.

- Urvalet görs av en jury bestående av en representant från Konstnärscentrum Syds styrelse samt arbetsgruppen för Moments of Belonging.

- Utlysningen kan återkallas om de inkomna ansökningarna inte uppfyller kriterierna.

Bedömningskriterier

Beslut fattas utifrån följande kriterier:

• Samarbetets konstnärliga kvalitet och originalitet, särskilt i relation till den valda platsen, kontexten, temat eller lokalen.

• Vilken betydelse utvecklingen av samarbetet har för konstnärernas fortsatta utveckling och praktik.

• Konstnärernas erfarenhet av liknande projekt eller en övertygande koppling mellan projektförslaget och deras övriga konstnärliga arbete.

Tidsplan

Utlysningen öppnar: 10:e augusti

Sista ansökningsdag: 8:e september kl.14.00

Besked: 1-10:e oktober

Projektperiod: 15:e oktober–15:e december

Valfri offentlig presentation: februari 2027

Ersättning

Utbetalningen sker i slutet av oktober.

En utbetalning om 10 000 kronor kommer att göras till varje samarbetspartner.
