The Swedish Artists´ Centre (SAC) is a non-profit-making association run by artists with the purpose of looking after the interest of professional artists in the art market.
The job of SAC is to work actively to create opportunities for work and an income for artists, to develop their ares of work and to ensure that the skills the artists possess are utilized in the right way.
SAC provides support in the practical aspects of minor and major artistic comissions.
The Swedish Artists' Centre - Region East (SAC-E) is one of the five regions that make up the national association The Swedis Artists' Centre.
Around 450 professional artists from the counties of Stockholm and Uppsala, as well as the Swedish island of Gotland are members of SAC-E. SAC-E acts as an artists labour exchange. We also initiate ideas and advise clients on artistic commissions. Through SAC-E, organisations, local authorities, companies and private individuals can come into contact with artists working with many different techniques and genres. We at SAC-E accept consultancy commissions and will provide contact with artists.
PROJECTS
An example of SAC's projects were the exhibition in Gotland during August to October 2000 which featured 12 artists. It took place on advertising posters in several public areas around the island of Gotland.
Another of our long term projects consists of artists working in schools, not primarily as teachers but with an extended view on artistic collaboration in this special environment.
SAC also works with introducing art and artistic work in day-care centers for elderly people and geriatric clinics.
